May seems to be sample sale month for some of our retailers. Samples sales are perfect for brides who love designer looks, but not designer prices. While the dresses are not new they are still drop dead gorgeous, and buying a sample will save you tons. Here are some tips for buying a sample gown.

~Ask if the gown has been cleaned. If it has not, get the name of the stores chosen dry cleaner. It will cost a little, but it will make a huge difference. Just be sure not to “match” anything to the dress until after its cleaned as the color may change.

~If the dress is too big or too small, ask to consult the seamstress to be sure necissary alterations can be made.

~Keep an open mind. If you find a dress you love but it has sleeves. Take it! A good seamstress can make it strapless easy for just a smidge more money.

~Remember no returns, so bring all necissary descision makers with you. This is a one time shot!

~Make your appointment early in the sample sale to see the max number of dresses.

~Ask what sizes the stores samples are. Most ususally only have one or two sizes so ask ahead so you don’t waist your time.

Sample sales are a great way to find a deal and sale some of your wedding budget. So good luck, and happy shopping!
